Walmart horror as female worker, 19, is found dead inside a superstore

A woman has been found dead inside a Walmart in a tragedy allegedly involving a large baking oven. 

Local police scrambled to the superstore in Halifax, Nova Scotia, following reports of a sudden death. 

Once police arrived at the scene on Saturday evening a 19-year-old worker was found dead. 

Halifax Regional Police are yet to release further details surrounding her death. The force has stressed that the investigation is ongoing and that a medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.

Global News reported that multiple accounts of the incident have claimed that a large baking oven, which was on at the time, was involved.

However, as of writing, this has not been confirmed or denied by Walmart or Police.

Martin Cromwell, a police officer in Halifax, described the investigation was complex. 

He said: We understand the public is involved, and we just wanted to encourage the public to be patient with our investigation and be mindful that there are family members and coworkers involved 

Police are yet to release more details about the victim however it is understood that she was a member of the local Sikh community in Halifax.

She had apparently lived in the Nova Scotia area for the past two or three years - according to CTV News.  

In a statement to Global News, Walmart Canada said they were heartbroken and our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family. We extend our sincerest condolences to those who were closest to them.

The statement continued: We’re also supporting our associates during this incredibly difficult time and have provided access to 24/7 virtual care and will provide on-site support, including grief counselling.

In a statement Halifax Regional Police said: On October 19 at approximately 9:30 pm police were called to a sudden death at Walmart located at 6990 Mumford Road. A 19-year-old woman employed at the store was found deceased.

Investigators are working closely with Occupational Health and Safety and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is in the early stages no further details are available at this time.

Yesterday, the store remained close with yellow police tape cordoning off the area.
