A total of 1,271 cases of green onions were voluntarily recalled by Church Brothers LLC on October 18, following the discovery of a single product sample collected by Canadian Food Inspection Agency that indicated the presence of Salmonella.
The recalled products were distributed to a small number of stores in Canada and the US in eleven states, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.
Products in stores including the popular neighborhood grocer Trader Joes are being recalled for the potential contamination.
Suspected products include Trader Joes green Onion Iceless 24 x 6oz Reg Trader Joes Mexico in a brand retail bag

The Church Brothers brand of Green Onions Iceless 4 x 2lb Reg Church Brothers Mexico in a clear bag, with the lot code of CB272378, were among the list of products.
Trader Joes green Onion Iceless 24 x 6oz Reg Trader Joes Mexico in a brand retail bag, with the code CB272328 and a pack date on 09/25/24 found on the back of the bag.
In Canada and the US, Imperial Freshs Green Onion Iceless 4 x 2lb Reg with the same lot code in a clear bag, was also on the recall list.
The US Food and Drug Administration has advised anyone with these products to dispose and not consume them.
The contaminated products can all be identified by the lot code CB272378

Salmonella infections usually present in healthy people as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Currently no illnesses have been reported.
Among young children, frail or elderly people, or those with weakened immune systems the Salmonella organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.
A recent recall on several brands of eggs was announced due to salmonella outbreaks in nine states.
Earlier this month, the FDA gave the recall a Class I label, meaning that there is a reasonable probability that exposure to the eggs will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
Distributed by Wisconsin-based Milos Poultry Farms, LLC, the contaminated eggs have sickened 65 people and hospitalized 24.
