Urgent manhunt underway for cunning inmate who escaped hospital in Maserati after complaining he had chest pains

A prisoner who said he was experiencing chest pains was taken to a Miami hospital - before making a daring escape in a Maserati.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said 36-year-old Theodrick Collins, a man with a lengthy criminal history, was arrested at PortMiami Saturday on several out-of-state warrants, NBC Miami reported.

While in custody, Collins reportedly began complaining of chest pain, prompting officers to take him to the emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital at around 2:25pm.

After Collins was medically cleared, police said Collins somehow got out of the hospital with his handcuffs still on and got into a silver Maserati sports car with an Alabama license plate.

The vehicle, which had the plate number GBT862, fled the scene and authorities have since launched a multi-agency search.

About an hour and a half after Collins escaped on Saturday, a license plate reader caught the Maserati in Jupiter, which is more than 80 miles north of the hospital.

As of Monday morning, Collins is still not in custody, police told DailyMail.com.

The Maserati that picked him up also hasnt been seen on any more license plate readers throughout the state.

Law enforcement agencies statewide are aware that Collins is on the loose and are assisting in the search.

Detectives described Collins as being five feet nine inches tall with a medium build. They didnt offer a description of the clothes he was last seen wearing.

Collins has been previously arrested in Mississippi for felony shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing from police and property theft, WSVN reported.

In 2023, he was arrested in Alabama for engaging in a high-speed chase with police.

Authorities havent yet provided additional details about the arrest warrants Collins is facing.
