Unhinged Jack Poore, from Tonbridge, Kent, was jailed last year for almost 35 months, but will walk free next week - three and a half months early - as part of Labours early release scheme.

He threatened to slit his ex-girlfriend Natasha Brines throat in a four month campaign of harassment in a toxic and controlling relationship.

The 30-year-old mother of three was left disturbing voicemails in which he branded her a dirty, cheating little **** and threatened to slice her.

Poore, 32, sent her a Snapchat message saying: You will be in a petrol bomb by 10pm and telling her: You are just a snake **** and I want you to die. You wont make 30 and you certainly wont make 50 because I will kill you.

More than 5,000 prisoners are to be set loose over the next six weeks, with everyone eligible for release apart from violent criminals jailed for more than four years.

Those set free include hardened drug dealers and violent domestic abusers - despite officials saying those convicted of domestic abuse connected crimes would be excluded from the plans.

It comes after reports that victims were not warned of the early prison release dates of their offenders yesterday.

Ms Brine told KentOnline she has suffered from horrific nightmares and feels physically sick since learning that her ex would be released early.

She said: I thought I would have at least four months to prepare. But all of a sudden he will be out and it has knocked me for six.

They said bail conditions have been put in place, but twice before he has broken restraining orders so I dont feel very safe.

I dont feel like I have had the time mentally to prepare for this.

Ms Brine has a son with Poore and says she is worried for the childs safety - with his school taking extra security measures to protect him.

The government said anyone jailed for a domestic abuse offence will not be released early as part of the scheme, including those imprisoned for breaching a non-molestation order or restraining order. Poore pleaded guilty to both crimes and harassment.

But The Ministry of Justice said he meets the criteria for this scheme, informing Ms Brine in a letter that he would be set free.

The mother thinks the government hasnt given enough consideration about how releasing prisoners early will impact the victims of their crimes.

She said: Its all well and good saying prisons are full and they need them out, but they are not thinking about how it is affecting our lives.

I think they should serve the sentence they are given.

Secretary of State for Justice Shabana Mahmood said the Labour government inherited a dire situation.

This government will tackle the crisis head on and today (Tuesday), changes will come into force to prevent a total collapse of our criminal justice system that would leave the public less safe.

If we had not acted when we came into office, there was a real risk that the courts would have been forced to delay sending offenders to jail and police left unable to arrest dangerous criminals.

This is a temporary measure, giving us time to set about long-term change in the prison system – building the prisons we need and driving down reoffending.

Not all victims of crime were made aware of their offenders early release date, the Victims Commissioner for England and Wales has said, warning that some victims may not have had the chance to seek protective measures.

Baroness Newlove, the victims commissioner for England and Wales, said that from the start of the scheme, she sought assurances that all impacted victims would be told of any early release dates before it happened.

I understand this has not been possible in every case, leaving some victims unaware of their offenders early release, she said in a statement.

While I recognise the challenges in reaching certain groups of victims, this is regrettable and must be addressed.

Domestic abusers and sex offenders were among those released, according to the Napo probation union.

The Ministry of Justice highlighted the eligibility for the scheme was based on the offence, not the offender.

Yesterday, inmates were welcomed like heroes on their departure from prison.

Former prisoners were sprayed with champagne by jubilant loved ones, with those released boasting about going to the pub and McDonalds to celebrate, while others crowed it was a great escape.

While some vowed to do their best not to end up behind bars again, others have brazenly said that time in prison doesnt make me a changed man amid warnings that a third of those released will reoffend.

There have also been concerns about the impact on communities where they are released with some admitting they will immediately become homeless after they are set free.

The Justice Secretary also announced in the Commons that prisoners freed under the early release scheme could be housed in taxpayer-funded hotels, once space runs out in community accommodation.

Ms Mahmood revealed that inmates who would be at risk of homelessness on release would be offered the temporary housing for 12 weeks.

Domestic abusers and sex offenders were among the 1,700 people freed by Labours early prisoner release scheme today, sparking fears of a ticking time bomb before more crimes occur.

And Ms Mahmood told the Commons, amid anger from opposition MPs: If an offender is at risk of homelessness upon release, they will be housed in community accommodation.

We expect to provide housing for the majority of offenders using existing provision. But should there not be enough provision, I have authorised probation directors to make use of alternative arrangements, including budget hotels as a temporary measure for the cases that we will see in the next few weeks.
