The offender, seen on a bike, pointed the weapon - believed to be a firearm - at a crowd on Romney Street as the crowd screamed in terror.
Armed police raced to the residential road and cordoned it off, along with nearby Littleton Road last night with a police helicopter circling overhead.
A huge scene was put in place as the nearby area was evacuated. Witnesses reported seeing at least 30 armed officers, with police vans and ambulances in attendance.
The mobile phone video showed a male dressed in dark clothing appearing to point the weapon at a group in the street.
Shortly after, other footage showed armed officers arriving with one suspect seen lying on the ground with their arms behind their back.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: At around 9:30pm yesterday (15/04/2025), specialist officers were deployed following reports that a gun had been seen during a disturbance on Romney Street in Salford.
We have arrested seven people in connection with this incident, including a man, aged 54, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and six teenagers, aged 16-18, on suspicion of affray.

A crossbow has also been recovered.
One resident of Romney Street said the incident erupted after a house party. All of them were just being loud, I started recording to send it to my landlord which is the exact moment couple of boys started running, they said.
And then a guy on a bike with a lot of lights pulled out a handheld gun and he didnt let it off, he just pulled it and aimed it.
Multiple police vehicles were seen on Romney Street before adjoining Littleton Road was cordoned off. Bystanders said they were told to evacuate the area.
We got told by a member of the public someone was seriously hurt and everybody had to evacuate the area, one person said.
Describing the size of the police response, another local said: There were at least 30 police cars.
They were all the way from Littleton Road to the Shell Garage on Cromwell Road.
GMP said a dispersal order has been put in place in the area until late on Tuesday night.

Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles said: Our frontline officers rapid response to a concerning report prevented what could have been a dangerous incident from occurring.
There was a large group of youths gathering in the area, and officers intervened in fights and helped several young people return home safely. Thankfully, no one at the scene required medical treatment.
Our investigation is moving at a pace; we have arrested seven people and taken a weapon off the streets while enquiries are ongoing.
A police presence will remain in the area as we conduct enquiries and gather evidence. Neighbourhood officers will be patrolling around to provide reassurance to the local community.
