A man has lost his license and found himself with a hefty fine after he was caught going nearly 50km over the speed limit on a country road in his supercar.

The 49-year-old from the Gold Coast was clocked going 147km/h in a 100km zone in his Lamborghini Aventador on the Bunya Highway near Dalby, in Queensland, at 12pm on March 15.
Highway patrol officers spotted the Mudgeeraba man in his sports car - which is valued at around $600,000 for lower end models - and quickly pulled him over.
He was handed a $1,854 fine and lost eight demerit points.
More than that the man had his licence suspended for six months because of the incident.
Toowoomba highway Patrol Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Kim Hill used the man as an example to urge drivers to slow down after a deadly year on Queensland roads.
Travelling at excessive speeds such as this is inexcusable and has been proven to risk your life and the lives of those around you, she said in a statement.
