Shocking makeover of 15-year-old Mississippi girl, Carly Gregg, a week before she murdered her mom

Accused teen killer Carly Gregg chopped off her hair and cut some bangs the week before she allegedly shot her mom dead inside their home.

The drastic change prompted concern from her mom, Ashley, who asked then-14-year-old Gregg to promise youre not trying to be a boy.

Pictures show Gregg with long, blonde hair prior to her decision to chop it all off on March 13, seven days before shes accused of killing her mom and attempting to kill her stepdad inside their family home in Mississippi.

On the fourth day of her murder trial, the court heard from Rebecca Kirk, the counselor Gregg was working with in the weeks before the alleged crime.

Kirk met with Gregg on the day of the makeover. She told the court Gregg had literally just gotten her hair cut before the session.

Her mom said promise me youre not trying to be a boy when she cut her hair, Kirk told the court.

Gregg allegedly laughed off the suggestion and insisted she had no intentions of becoming a boy.

Kirk agreed that she never thought [Gregg] was having an identity crisis.

This was a line of questioning Kirk explored several times during their nine sessions over the span of nine weeks. Gregg never expressed any concerns about her gender identity or sexuality, Kirk said. 

At one stage, she disclosed that her friends said the new haircut made her look even more gay.

When Kirk tried to determine whether this upset Gregg, she said Gregg laughed it off and never appeared bothered by her friends teasing.

Carly Gregg was a bright and gifted student who loved learning, the court heard

Over the nine weeks of sessions, Greggs appearance did change. Kirk noticed she began exclusively wearing black clothing.

But she didnt notice any alarming behaviors or feelings that would have predicated what prosecutors allege took place on March 19.

Kirk had no doubts during her sessions with Gregg about how much she loved her mom.

I got the impression that she had complex feelings about her mom, but I believe she loved her mom, she said.

She allegedly shot her stepdad in the shoulder before he was able to wrangle the gun from her hands, causing her to flee.

The court has also seen bodycam footage from the arresting officers, who placed the shaky teenager in handcuffs as they were swabbed for gunpowder residue.

She was asked which hand did you shoot with and told the officer I cant remember. 

She asked the officers is my stepdad okay? to which they told her they cant talk about that.
