Shana Cloud, 50, is then dumped her husband, Clint Bonnells body in a pond just three miles from their home where it was finally found late last month, the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office reports.
It claims in court documents that Bonnells girlfriend, Kelli Edwards, told deputies he visited an attorney on January 27 to discuss filing for a divorce from Cloud.
He then visited Edwards yoga studio to discuss the conversation he had with the lawyer, before he was off to Methodist University to study for a test as part of his physician assistant course, according to CBS 17.
When he returned to the home he shared with Cloud that evening, Bonnell, 50, texted Edwards to let her know he had told Cloud about the divorce and was going to bed, WRAL reports.
The next day, Bonnell missed class - prompting a school official to call the local sheriffs office, and Edwards reported him missing on January 28.
Cloud, meanwhile, declined to file a missing persons report.

Then, when authorities arrived at the home they shared to check on him, she allegedly told the deputies she had not seen him since the day before - when they left in separate cars. She said he was off to the university to study.
At that point, the deputies at the scene searched the home for any signs of what may have happened to the missing former soldier.
Inside, they found Bonnells wallet, laptop and a backpack with bullet fragments inside, according to a search warrant.
They said the damage from the backpack was from a projectile, suggesting he may have been harmed.
In the ensuing weeks, deputies conducted a number of searches at the home Bonnell and Cloud shared, inside her vehicle and cellphone and a rental property she owns in Virginia.
Deputies also said they obtained search warrants for video footage and digital devices to help develop a timeline surrounding Bonnells disappearance.
Eventually, Cloud allegedly admitted she had a confrontation with her husband over a note from his girlfriend.
Still, Bonnells whereabouts were unclear.

The big break in the case came on February 25, when human remains were found in a pond about three miles from Cloud and Bonnells home.
The passerby who made the grisly discovery told officers that the body was dismembered, with no arms or legs.
Authorities then took a DNA sample from the corpse, which they ran through the Armed Forces Medical Examiners System, the Fayetteville Observer reports.
Finally, on Friday, the DNA sample matched that of Bonnell - and deputies promptly took Cloud into custody.
She is charged with murder and concealing a death, with authorities alleging she failed to notify law enforcement of Clinton Barnells death while knowing or having reason to know Clinton Barnells death was not due to natural causes.

In a statement following Clouds arrest, Stefanie Firkins, Bonnells sister, said: Ive known from the first time I talked to Shana on January 29 she did something to my brother.
I am very thankful he was found and Shana Cloud was arrested, she continued, noting, I will continue to advocate for my brother and pray that justice is served.
My brother was an amazing man. What she did to him was pure evil.
Cloud is now being held without bond at the Cumberland County Jail.
