Residents of quiet suburban street outraged as bus loads of sorority girls arrive for two day Airbnb bender

A quiet suburban street has been left up in arms after bus loads of sorority girls arrived a rental property in the neighborhood for a two-day event.

A quiet suburban street has been left up in arms after bus loads of sorority girls arrived a rental property in the neighborhood for a two-day event.

Those living on Sunnyside Drive in London, Ontario, have had enough of the short-term rental, deeming the latest incident involving the university students ridiculous.

Footage shared on social media by local man Chris Prater shows a long line of the students outside of the rental property.

According to Prater, the young women were being dropped off by the busload at the address on Saturday morning in droves.

The situation is similar to the 2016 film Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, in which Seth Rogen and Zac Efrons characters go to war with a sorority after they move into a neighborhood.

Speaking with CBC, Prater said: Its not what you want in a residential neighborhood. Its not an appropriate use of the house. Its a traffic concern, its noisy and we just didnt sign up for that.

They would get dropped off, get some instructions from some other girls on the driveway, march into the house and be inside for about an hour before coming out chanting and singing their sorority song.

Then they would wait in the driveway for about 25 or 30 minutes before another bus came, dropped off more girls and picked up the ones that were already inside.

While Marion Warren told CTV News that neighbors have been complaining for years about the various groups that rent the house for short stays.

She said: This weekend was horrific. School bus loads of young females were being dropped off and apparently were being interviewed in this house for a sorority.

Warren also spoke with CBC, saying that there was constantly new cars in the driveway and that the noise from the pool in the backyard filtered down the street.

Other neighbors told the outlet that it often attracts large parties or several families at one time. A stripper showed up for a bachelorette party once, one person said.

Warren added: This is unfair to the neighbors and I think its depreciating the value of our property by having this close by.

Pawel Sypien has said he has lost his weekends due to the noise coming from the property.

He told CBC: The noise is incredible. That house has five or six bedrooms and a pool, so people who rent it throw parties and there are 30 people there.

We basically dont have our weekends anymore, or our quiet weekends, anyway.

The home was purchased in March 2020 for $673,000 and was most recently listed last year for $1.2 million.

The owner of the home Jithin Das, a local realtor, told CBC he wasnt aware that hundreds of young women would be showing up at his property.

In an apology to the outlet, he said: Im working with Airbnb and theyre investigating how it happened. We were not aware this was going to happen.

I am extremely sorry to the neighbors. I dont want to have further issues.

According to Das he had been told that 30 to 40 girls would be appearing in groups of seven or eight throughout the weekend, not by the busload.

In London, rental accommodations must have a certain license to operate and be the main residence of the person who is renting.

City officials were unable to give specific information on the Sunnyside Drive property, but said it is being investigated.

A spokesperson said: We continue to use corrective actions under the citys bylaws to address violations at this property.
