Real Madrid cancels concerts at its stadium after loud late gigs turned the Bernabeu in a torture-drome

Real Madrid has cancelled or rescheduled concerts at its Bernabéu stadium in Spain after loud gigs late at night turned the arena into a torture-drome.

Real Madrid has cancelled or rescheduled concerts at its Bernabéu stadium in Spain after loud gigs late at night turned the arena into a torture-drome.

The Bernabéu recently underwent a five-year, £760million refurbishment and held a number of high-profile concerts earlier this year.

Major headliners have included Taylor Swift, Colombian star Karol G and Luis Miguel.

But the noisy concerts have driven some locals to despair, with a group representing those living around the stadium beginning legal action.

The locals complained about late finish times, fans camping in local parks, the blocking of roads and drunk people urinating in doorways.

In a statement, the club said: Real Madrid FC is announcing that it has decided to provisionally reschedule its event and concert programme at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

This decision is part of a raft of measures that the club is taking to ensure that the concerts comply strictly with the relevant municipal regulations.

The statement added: Real Madrid will continue working to make sure that the necessary sound production and emission conditions are in place to allow concerts to be held in our stadium.

José Manuel Paredes, a spokesperson for the association formed in response to the noise, told The Guardian that the news provided some temporary relief to locals.

However, he stressed that the group had not abandoned its legal action.
