Last year he was given permission to build a triple garage to house his car collection.

In 2022, Capaldi, who also has a home in London, was given permission to build an extension to the property which included a swimming pool, changing rooms, spa and sauna.

His renovation plans also included a gym, media room, home cinema, an expanded master bedroom and a new kitchen.

Capaldi, who has been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome, was forced to take a break from music after struggling to finish his set at Glastonbury 2023.

He called off his tour to address his mental and physical health in a move he described as ‘the most difficult decision of my life’.

The singer snapped up the pad four years ago after Ed Sheeran scoured the internet to look for a home for him.

However, after moving into the house on the outskirts of Glasgow, he discovered it smelled of cigarette smoke and dog and has described it as a hell hole.

In an interview last year, he joked he would need his second album to sell well so he can pay for the renovations.

He said: Lets put it this way, if this album doesnt go well I have a real issue on my hands.

That house is now a shell. I have ripped it all out and right now its squalor.

We keep on finding builders and they keep on being like Nah, not for us.

People are turning me down. Im offering to pay the money and theyre like No, not for us, thats not the one.

So Ed has still burdened my life to an incredible degree.

Capaldi also joked he had been trying to get in touch with friend Sheeran after the singer said in an interview he would buy the house from him.

He added: I saw Ed saying he is going to buy it off me. Ive been chasing that man on email and nothing. I havent seen him since.
