Police sergeant offers up bizarre excuse for filming his wife and her sister in sex acts

A Las Vegas police officer filmed videos of his wife and her sister using the toilet as part of his home surveillance, a court heard. 

Kevin Menon, 43, has been accused of installing cameras in vents in his home bathroom that captured 28 clips of his wife Natasha Menon and her sister Tamara Russells buttocks and genitalia.

Both women have claimed the videos were taken consensually and have publicly stood by the suspended Metropolitan Police Department sergeant.

Menons wife submitted an affidavit in which she claimed that the whole house was under surveillance, the Las Vegas Journal-Review reports.

But Chief Deputy District Attorney Christopher Hamner eviscerated the defense in court.

Theres nothing that youre surveilling when youre staring straight at a toilet, he said.

There are no alligators coming out of the toilet. There are no snakes. There are no creatures from the sewers coming up to attack you. That is set up because he has a fetish. 

Menon is facing additional allegations of illegally detaining people on the strip and possessing hundreds of sexual images of young girls. He has denied the charges.

Menon is accused of creating the sordid bathroom videos while out on bail in connection with the other alleged offenses. 

The alleged violation led to a judge remanding him in custody at a bail hearing yesterday.

 When youre out on bail, like he was, and youre putting up secret cameras on your wife and sister-in-law, I think you have some problems that you may not be able to control them if you want to, District Judge Mary Kay Holthus said.

 Thats kind of how it comes across. And with a, at minimum, interest in children and young teens, that causes me great concern.

Holthus set his bail at $500,000, half the amount that had been recommended by prosecutors. She agreed it did not appear as if the women knew they were being filmed.

We understand it, but they are not the first victims that the state of Nevada has ever dealt with that protects an abuser, Hamner told the court. 

Menons wife wept as he was led away from the courtroom in handcuffs. 

She and Russell have been unabashed in their support for Menon, posing up outside the courtroom bearing signs which read: I dont need a white savior, Hamner, in reference to the prosecutor.

The allegations are false. I am absolutely not a victim. I feel victimized by the Clark County district attorneys office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,  Natasha said.

She said she did not answer detectives when they came to her apartment and asked if she was the person depicted in the videos. 

Kevins sister-in-law echoed Natashas defense of the former cop, stating that the department was making up a crime that did not happen. 

They left and decided to go ahead with making up a crime that did not happen, she said.

Hamner addressed the inappropriate sign in court, which he branded a racial shot and pointed out he is not white.

She got her facts wrong, he said. Not all saviors are white. Im half African American. And it doesnt matter what my color is. Thats not why we do our job. 

Menons defense tried to argue that it was not for prosecutors to determine whether Menons wife and Russell were victims.

Its a bit paternalistic to assume, well, they say theyre not victims, but we know better, said defense attorney Robert Draskovich.

Tamara (pictured) has previously shared how much she loves her brother-in-law on social media, as she posted a family image calling him her role model 

The Metropolitan Police Department previously confirmed to DailyMail.com that Menon is currently suspended.

In his first case, Menon has been accused of using his power as a police officer to make up scenarios that led to citizens, specifically black men, being arrested, 8 News Now reported. 

At the time of the alleged crime, Kevin was leading a group of officers on the Strip. 

Body cam footage later showed other officers dressed in uniform there while Kevin donned normal, civilian clothing. 

Detectives said they then seized his electronic devices and discovered child pornography, which resulted in a second criminal case against him, according to the outlet. 

In response to his alleged illegal arrests, Kevin said he was trying to expose racism within the police department, court documents, reviewed by 8 News Now, revealed. 

A further court date has been set for Menon for April 22.
