Morning Joe celebrates the stunning Iowa poll showing Harris ahead of Trump and says it shows a crucial trend

A triumphant Joe Scarborough celebrated a shocking poll from Iowa showing Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump in the traditionally Republican, calling it a canary in the coal mine.

A triumphant Joe Scarborough celebrated a shocking poll from Iowa showing Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump in the traditionally Republican, calling it a canary in the coal mine.

The MSNBC host revealed he was in a media dark zone over the weekend until his wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski called him up to reveal the news of pollster Ann Selzers outlier survey showing Harris leading Trump in Iowa by three points.

I’m like, what? Scarborough exclaimed. Then I’m on the phone the rest of the night. John Heilemann... first of all, Ann gets it right every time. Just about every time.

Scarborough enthusiastically endorsed Selzers poll, which was widely celebrated by Democrats as a sign that Harris was moving forward in a surge of last-minute momentum.

The ex-president tore into the survey calling Selzer a Trump hater and insisting that Iowas farmers love him.

The Trump campaign pointed to an Emerson Poll that shows the Republican nominee leading comfortably by 10 points in the deep red state.

MSNBC analyst Heilemann called Selzer very accurate. She has built a reputation as Iowas Polling Queen and the best pollster in politics.

Shes been very accurate famously in the primaries and caucuses for years and years and years, Heilemann agreed, noting that the poll correctly showed Trump leading in the state 2016.

A lot of people Saturday night were saying the same thing, canary in the coal mine, Scarborough said emphatically.

The poll showed that Harris was leading 47 percent to Trumps 44 percent in the state of Iowa which was still in the margin of error.

The data shows women, particularly those who are older or registered as independent, are driving the late shift toward Kamala Harris, MSNBC noted co-host Willie Geist.

Scarborough hosted Selzer onto his show to discuss her numbers in detail.

No one, including me, would have thought that Iowa could go for Kamala Harris, she said.

Selzer said that her Iowa poll showed Trump comfortably ahead of Biden in the summer but after Harris took the nomination, she leapfrogged over the former president thanks to motivated female supporters.

Scarborough celebrated the news as a massive boost for Harris, citing Selzers credibility.

Ann trusted the data. She didnt have to play games with the numbers because she didnt have to adjust for past failures, he said.

Selzer emphasized her data showing a massive gender gap between Trump and Harris.

Yes, the gender gap, you definitely see it here. Kamala Harris wins with women more than she loses with men, she said, adding that Harris was outperforming women aged 65 and over. Her margin is more than 2-1 with that group.

Trump criticized the poll as skewed on social media on Sunday night.

All polls, except for one heavily skewed toward the Democrats by a Trump hater who called it totally wrong the last time, have me up, BY A LOT, he wrote.
