Colt Gray, a 14-year-old student at the school, was charged as an adult for murdering two students and two teacher people following the horrific shooting that also left nine injured on September 4.
In the letter, the teens mother, Marcee Gray, 43, who said she warned the school of an extreme emergency before her son opened fire, told families that love is the only thing that will get us through this tragedy and asked them to pray for Colt and their family.
To the parents and families of those affected by the tragic events at Apalachee High School, I want to say that I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart, Gray wrote.

If I could take the place of Mason and Christian, I would without a second thought. As a parent, Ive always said that the loss of one of my children would be the only thing that I wouldn’t be able to come back from. I feel all of your pain and devastation.
I grieve and cry with you. My heart breaks for the two teachers who gave their lives while in the service of teaching and protecting our children.
Mason Schermerhorn, 14, an autistic student, was the first victim to be identified. Student Christian Angulo, 14, also lost his life.
Teachers Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimie were also killed in the tragedy.

Colt faces four counts of murder while his father, Colin Gray, 54, was arrested and faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder amid claims he gave his son the AR-15-style rifle used in the massacre.
Colin, who was labeled evil by his former father-in-law, also faces eight counts of cruelty to children.
Both father and son are facing life in prison.
Colins ex-father-in-law, Charles Polhamus, recently told DailyMail.com that Colin is the reason why his grandson was driven to commit the horrific act.
He confirmed that Colin and his daughter, Marcee, had a tumultuous relationship, branding her estranged husband as a narcissist and evil.
Colts grandfather said that the suspected shooters father ruined the teenager, who needed a more supportive environment.
Hes a full-fledged narcissist and he finally getting what he deserves, Polhamus told DailyMail.com.
Polhamus blamed Colts father for his actions, but said that his grandson would have to be punished for the shooting.
He also believes that his troubled ex-son-in-law deserves the death penalty for his involvement.
Speaking to DailyMail.com from his Fitzgerald, Georgia home, Charlie Polhumus, 81, the maternal grandfather of Colt Gray, said the teens father is to blame for his actions
Spending 11 years with that son of a b***h screaming and hollering every day, it can affect anybody, Polhamus said of Colt, according to the New York Post.
He needs the death penalty.
Polhamus previously told the Post that Colt had delivered an apology to his mother via text message prior to the shooting, prompting her to call the school.
I’m sorry, mom, the text read.
Marcee then hopped in her car and started driving toward the school, more than three hours away. But about half way there she learned that the tragedy she was racing to prevent had already taken place.
A counselor at the school told Marcee that her son had been talking about school shootings that morning, according to Grays sister, Annie Brown, who spoke to the Post.

Soon after the shooting began, reports surfaced that the high school received a warning that the tragedy could unfold.
In reported texts sent by Marcee, she told her family: I was the one that notified the school counselor at the high school.
The texts offer a clearer picture of how Colts family understood his mental turmoil and how close school officials came to finding him before he allegedly opened fire.
In one exchange after the shooting, Marcee texted her sister, Annie Brown, that she was questioning why officials had not found her son in time, as she felt there was a long time for them to intervene so I’m curious to know what happened in that time.
Further text exchanges reported from Marcees sister showed that Colts school and family were also in contact regarding his deteriorating mental health at least a week before the shooting.
In one text, Brown reportedly told a relative that Colt was having homicidal and suicidal thoughts.

He shouldn’t have a gun, and he should’ve been in THERAPY months ago, she added in the text.
Brown said that her nephew had spent months begging for mental health help, but the adults around him failed him.
Marcee was previously ordered by a court to have only limited contact with Colts father after she pleaded guilty in December to a charge of family violence.
The alleged gunmans parents split in 2022 after they were evicted, and the family had been involved in Georgias child welfare agency during their turmoil.
Months later, in May 2023, the family were visited by local law enforcement after receiving an FBI tip about threats to carry out a school shooting.
Colt denied making the threats, and Colin told cops that he kept hunting rifles in the home but his son was not allowed to use them unsupervised.
