Our phones have been blowing up all night long about what the hell did they do, Michigan Teamsters president Kevin Moore told DailyMail.com amid intrigue about what the split could mean for one of the key electoral prizes of the election.

This Donald Trump sociopath cannot survive in Michigan, he said.

He said the states 243,000 members would be working hard to elect Democrat Kamala Harris, and raised doubts about the polling cited by the national union to back up General President Sean OBriens move voted in by the executive committee.

Trump on Wednesday night called the move a great honor, and his campaign touted union workers support for Trump.

The former president lies to America. He hates women. He’s a womanizer. Hes only a self proclaimed billionaire and the only reason he wants to step into the Oval Office is to get himself out of all these lawsuits he put himself in. He is a disgrace to the presidents office, said Moore, in furious langauge that reflects the divisions within the union over the presidential election.

OBrien spoke to the Republican National Convention. The union hasnt backed a Republican since 1988.

I can’t answer his decision, he said of OBriens move. I just know I control Michigan with 245,000 votes in Michigan, and with all the labor in Michigan our job is to stop [Trump] in Michigan.

He didnt accept poll data released by the union, rank-and-file picked Trump over Harris by 60-34 percent. He said it was taken from too small of a sample size.

That can be skewed any way you want, he said. Here in Michigan we overwhelming polled for Kamala Harris, he said, citing the figure 72 to 28.

Other local unions and joint councils also announced they were backing Harris, including one council president in Wisconsin and one representing southern California and southern Nevada.

I am positive that Pennsylvania in the near future is going to do exactly what we’re doing here in Michigan, Moore predicted, discussing the state that has become the key prize of 2024.

‘The union’s extensive member polling showed no majority support for Vice President Harris and no universal support among the membership for President Trump, the national Teamsters union said in a statement Wednesday.

The stunning move by the national union jolted a race in a state where Harris has carved out a tiny polling lead but where Trump has a chance to end her presidential dreams with wins in Blue Wall states that have switched between the parties.

Harris has garnered the support of nine of the top 10 unions, and is counting on groups like the U.A.W. with its  12.5 million members to drive turnout.

At at Flint Assembly, General Motors longest running plant in North America, auto workers say Trump is meeting a threshold of support, which the former president tried to boost with a visit to the area Tuesday.

The people on our side are pretty quiet about who theyre voting for. On the Trump side, weve got a lot of people in here that like like him, even though I dont think hes done as well for the for the middle class as hes done for the wealthy, said Craig McClaine, who repairs trucks and has put in nearly 30 years at the plant.

He spoke after the 7 AM shift change at the plant, which hums for 24 hours a day during most of the week, recalling how Trump got into office with an Electoral College win by prevailing in states including Michigan, even while losing the overall popular vote.

And then Biden spanks him [in 2020], and then hes crying because the mail-in votes came during the night. Well, I work during the night. People do stuff at night, you know? A vote’s a vote. Well, no matter what time of day it comes in, he said.

Theres a lot of people that hes got a lot of support with, said Paul, a maintenance worker with 15 years at the plant who didnt want to give his last name and who tries not to bring politics into work.

I wouldnt say its 50-50 but Trump has definitely got some support here, which is kind of surprising, knowing his stance with the unions, and how hes been with the unions, he said.

Tom, a sanitation worker at the plant, has been struggling to make ends meet while caring for a special needs teenager. Something needs to change, he said.

And now, since Biden was in there – not that Im really totally against some Democrats, but since theyve been in there, Im about to lose my f****** home of 18 years, and they want me to smile and say, Bidenomics is working? he said.
