The terrifying scenes unfolded at Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren, in Melbournes south-east shortly before 2.30pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports that three people were injured.
Two men and a woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The allegedly armed man, 30 is accused of fleeing the scene before he was located by police and arrested inside Westfield a short time later.
Witnesses reported that the man, who was covered in blood, allegedly tried to hide in the toilets, The Herald Sun reports.
A [alleged] knife attack at the bus stop and [a] huge police presence, a bystander wrote online.
They arrested the guy full of blood on his face [allegedly] from inside the toilet in front of Coles.
A Narre Warren man, 30 has since been charged with affray, recklessly cause injury, unlawful assault and possess controlled weapon.
He was bailed to appear in Dandenong Magistrates Court in February.
