Las Vegas family was torn apart after teenage girl born via IVF took DNA test

A Las Vegas family has been left in shambles after a DNA test revealed that the couples 18-year-old daughter who was born through IVF is not their own.

A Las Vegas family has been left in shambles after a DNA test revealed that the couples 18-year-old daughter who was born through IVF is not their own.

A lawsuit filed against the now-defunct Nevada Fertility Cares alleges that the wrong embryo was implanted in the teenagers mother by Dr. Rachel Mcconnell MD nearly two decades ago.

The family discovered the error after they took an Ancestry.com DNA test which showed that the youngster was not biologically related to either one of the parents.

The teenagers mother died in 2022 of undisclosed reasons. It is unclear if she had any siblings.

Attorney Robert Murdock, who is representing the father at the Clark County District Court, said: My client had more tears than Ive ever seen someone shed, because what he thought was his daughter — isnt.

According to documents obtained by 8NewsNow, the couple had chosen an Arizona-based egg donor to combine with the fathers sperm.

But the DNA results showed that the implanted embryo was actually from Las Vegas, rather than the Arizona one they had decided on.

The lawsuit allegedly states that it remain unknown what happened to the original embryo and if it was implanted in another woman.

Murdock asked whether the teens father may have other kids he does not know about: Because again, where did that embryo go? Was that implanted in someone else?

The lawyer also clarified that the father plans to officially adopt the teenager and her birth certificate will be altered - but remain curious about how the mix-up happened.

In this case, the biological child is not his, so as a result, he has to go adopt her.

The real point of this is finding out what happened, why and hopefully making sure that this is the only mistake out there.

The documents cites negligence and malpractice and demands a jury decide any culpability and potential damages.
