The picture was taken at a Queensland KFC by a customer who raised concerns over the stores hygiene practices.
Reported by 7News, the staff member was seen standing on the counter top without shoes and cleaning the cooking equipment, which appears to be filled with chicken.
A KFC spokesman confirmed the franchise store was not following hygiene practices in line with the fast-food chains standards.
The spokesman confirmed KFC would launch an investigation into the store.
KFC is committed to ensuring our food preparation and hygiene processes meet and exceed Australian standards, including Australian Work Health and Safety requirements, to keep our customers and employees safe, the spokesman said
We expect every restaurant to comply with these standards and are investigating the incident with the franchisee and management team.
Action will be taken to ensure our high standards are met in the future.
