Excitement quickly turned to panic for hardworking Aussies Jon and Mary after Jon became seriously ill on their flight to London last week.
The couple were forced to go straight from the airport to hospital where it was revealed Jon had meningococcal septicemia - a serious blood infection that spreads from person-to-person through coughing or extended close contact.
Marys co-worker Michelle revealed on Wednesday that Jon had so far spent 10 days in the intensive care unit since landing in London.
Jon and Mary have been saving for a long time to go overseas, for their once-in-a-lifetime dream holiday, only for Jon to be struck down on the flight over with a deadly infectious disease, meningococcal septicemia, she wrote on GoFundMe.
After landing in London, this fun loving couple began their dream holiday by immediately travelling to the hospital from the airport, where Jon was admitted into the intensive care unit as a very sick man.
Meningococcal septicemia patients often suffer from a fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea, vomiting, photophobia and confusion.
Michelle asked Aussies to dig deep for the hardworking and genuine couple.

Mary is alone in a new and strange country with zero support throughout this devastating ordeal.
For something like this to happen is a daunting and terrifying experience to say the least.
If we could join together and take away some of the financial burden, it would go a long way for this couple to be able to just focus on Jons health and lengthy recovery.
