Jetstar is expanding its network by introducing new routes to New Zealand, with discounted tickets available to celebrate the launch.

Starting in June 2025, the airline will add direct flights from the Gold Coast to Hamilton and Dunedin in New Zealand.

The new services are scheduled to run three times a week.

This will be Jetstars first service to Hamilton, providing Australians with access to popular North Island destinations like Hobbiton, the Bay of Plenty, and Rotorua.

The new route from the Gold Coast to Dunedin will also boost access to the South Islands second-largest city.

Jetstar has also announced a new route to Hamilton taking off from Sydney.

Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans said the new trans-Tasman routes offered Aussies more choice.

New Zealand is Australias largest international visitor market, so it makes sense for us to increase our Trans-Tasman connectivity. Were proud that well be Australias most connected airport to New Zealand, Ms Evans said.

These services are expected to deliver over 115,000 passengers annually to the Gold Coast, connecting the city to Dunedin for the first time and re-establishing the airports first ever Tasman route, to Hamilton.

Queensland Tourism Minister Michael Healy said the airfare sale was a win for New Zealand travellers as it makes Australia more accessible for holidaymakers.

What a win for New Zealand travellers who can now access these new, affordable, regular flights, allowing them to visit Queensland and explore this great state without blowing the budget, Mr Healy said.

The new services will make Gold Coast Airport Australias most connected to New Zealand, with more routes for visitors and students to arrive, with air freight heading back across the Tasman.

Almost half a million kiwis crossed the ditch to visit Queensland in the year ending March 2024, setting a second consecutive visitor spending record with $821 million in overnight visitor expenditure.

Both Australian and New Zealand travellers are encouraged to take advantage of the sale, which ends on Tuesday at 10am.
