British nationals have endured another chaotic night in the Middle East after the first UK government chartered flight from Oman failed to take off.

Terrified passengers were said to be smashing on windows and having panic attacks as they sat helplessly on the plane on the tarmac in Muscat. One described the ordeal as a total s***show.

It had been scheduled to depart from the Omani capital at 11pm GST on Wednesday, but could not due to the pilots hours clocking up.

It is unclear why the chartered flight did not depart, as other commercial flights have been taking off from the region.

Meanwhile Israel and Iran have traded fresh attack as the conflict enters its sixth day

Canada's PM refuses to rule out military involvement

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney refused to rule out military involvement as he spoke from Australia on Thursday.

He has said that Canada will not participate in the US military action, but when pressed on whether he would rule it out - even if the conflict were to spread - Carney said anything was possible.

'You’ve asked a fundamental hypothetical in a conflict that can spread very broadly,' he said.

'Today’s events or recent events point to that, so one can never categorically rule out participation. We will stand by our allies.'
