The iconic Massachusetts peninsula desperately needs $4.5 billion in funds to replace the only two bridges linking it to the mainland, which are named the Bourne and Sagamore.

But local lawmakers whove pressed the federal government for cash now face going to Donald Trump with their begging bowl, despite hurling vicious insults at him.

And with the president-elect vowing revenge on his enemies during his second term, the billionaires playground may find replacement of the essential spans a low-priority for the new White House.

Massachusetts Democrat Governor Maura Healey, who is pushing the project, previously slammed Trump as a con man a swindler and a threat to democracy after suing him a hundred times when she was attorney general and he was 45th president.

She could send another politician to ask for the money in her place - but the next in line, US Senator Eddie Markey, hasnt been shy about his feelings toward Trump either.

Trump is absolutely a fascist. Hes also a misogynist, a racist [and] a homophobe, the Democrat lawmaker previously said, per the Boston Herald

Built in 1935, the Cape Cod bridges are old and in desperate need of repair.

They were designed to last 50 years so have been operating for almost double the recommended time.

Cape Cod is a well-known Democrat stronghold, with President Trump known to enjoy toying with his enemies.

The prospect of refusing to replace the ageing bridges and inconveniencing elite lawmakers and locals whove railed against him may be too tempting to ignore, the Herard speculates.

Govenor Healey has already had her first disagreement with Trump just a week after he won his second election.

She vowed not to comply with the upcoming Republican administrations plan to deport up to 20 million illegal migrants.

Healey did so despite warning the Bay State was buckling under the strain caused by tens of thousands of recent arrivals from the southern border.

Theyve been bused there by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who decided in 2022 that liberal Sanctuary Cities should share the burden of caring for border crossers they profess to care so much about.

Healey later warned migrants to stop coming to Boston, despite previously vowing to welcome everyone who made the trip.

It comes as nearby Plum Island is also battling it out to save the iconic 100-year-old Pink House which has been a favorite among landscape artists for years.

The nearly 100-year-old double-story house was built by Gertrude Cutter for her son and his family back in 1925.

After going through multiple owners over the years, it was eventually bought by US Fish and Wildlife Service for $375,000 in 2011.

Situated alone on the marsh along the causeway, the property was initially going to be used as a dormitory for seasonal workers at a nearby Parker River Wildlife Refuge.

But once the FWS discovered structural contamination at the house, particularly asbestos, they decided to abandon plans and build housing somewhere else.

The federal agency has since attempted to sell the property but since the Pink House is on protected land, the only way it can stay there is through an exchange, according to government law.

Despite the propertys artistic appeal, two exchange deals fell through in 2020 and 2022, according to Matt Hillman, the Parker River Wildlife Refuge manager.

As a result, Parker River Wildlife Refuge officials now say they now have no choice but to remove or demolish the structure this winter.

In the meantime, Healey is using the structure as a safehouse following her partys devastating loss in Tuesdays election.
