A music producer who worked with chart-topping reggaeton stars like Nio García was gunned down by carjackers Monday in Puerto Rico, authorities said.
Angel Díaz, 25, known in music industry as Goldi, was waiting on the drive-thru line at a Burger King in Caguas when gunmen approached him during the early-morning hours Monday.
Díaz reportedly tried to defend himself with his registered firearm and was found dead inside his Toyota Tacoma, Caguas Criminal Investigation Corps Capt. Carlos Alicea said.
Surveillance camera footage showed at least two suspects stepping out of a white vehicle around 2:30am and opening fire.
He was preparing to order some type of food in the Burger King line when several individuals arrived in a vehicle and caused his death, Alicea said.
We are looking at visuals. We have to move to others because there are cameras in several establishments, he added.
Authorities believe that a Toyota Scion that was found abandoned on the side of a road in the municipality of Cayey may match the vehicle that the killers used to carry out the killing.
Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día reported that the vehicle had not been reported stolen and that authorities were working on locating the owner.

Trap House Latino described him as a humble man, a hard-working man with a giant heart and enormous talent.
The two times we had the opportunity to work hand in hand with him were in two Musiando Lives, the first one was with the artist Tutu and the second one was yesterday with Casper Mágico and Nio García and on both occasions, Goldi showed live why he is a multi-platinum producer, Trap House Latino wrote.
His talent spoke for itself … We want to express our deepest condolences to all his family, work team and those close to him.
Much strength to all those who came to know this great person in life. Only those who are forgotten die and we will always remember you. Rest in peace.
