Alissa Azar, 33, learned her fate at the Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon on Monday, three weeks after a jury found her guilty of felony riot and disorderly conduct.

Judge Todd L. Van Rysselberghe slammed Azar for misusing a park to clash with fascists, placing innocent people at risk.

The clash was against the Proud Boys, a group of far-right fascists who promote and engage in political violence

The judge drew comparisons between Azar and the Proud Boys, noting both parties demonstrated no empathy for the innocent people who were at the park on June 18, 2021.

He said: Ms. Azar continued to deny being a participant in the riot and acknowledged only that she played a minor role in the incident.

Azar was cuffed and taken into custody as soon as her sentence was handed down. She will serve her sentence at the Clackamas County Jail, the Post Millennial reported.

Upon her release, Azar will be under a supervised probation order for three years, during which time she will be subject to GPS monitoring.

Azar describes herself as a journalist and antifascist on her social media platforms.

Following her incarceration, her Instagram page was taken over by an unnamed friend, who described the sentence as an absolutely harrowing act of political repression with the intent to silence her voice.

It is not a crime to be antifascist.

The anonymous friend claimed Azar will face special terms during her probation which takes away her ability to wear a protective vest as many journalists covering conflicts do.

The friend is now asking for donations to keep Azars commissary stocked.

Azar has been arrested several times over unrelated matters, including a 2024 pro-Gaza protest.

During the court proceedings, Azars lawyer Lauren Regan said she has no intention of giving up her career in journalism.

According to Oregon Live, Azar deployed mace spray twice during the brawl.

At the time of the incident, witnesses described the scene of the brawl as giant medieval clashes.

Dramatic pictures show warring groups attacking one another using mace spray and weapons.

An American flag was set alight during the brawl. Reporter Zane Sparling told KOIN 6 news it was Civil War 2.0.

This was open warfare between the left-wing Antifa and the right-wing Proud Boys.
