Furious German pensioner, 96, shoots and seriously injures his daughter with a WW2-era pistol after she asked him to move into a care home

A furious German pensioner reportedly left his daughter seriously injured after shooting her with a WW2-era pistol after she asked him to move into a care home.

A furious German pensioner reportedly left his daughter seriously injured after shooting her with a WW2-era pistol after she asked him to move into a care home.

Wilhelm S., 96, allegedly shot the woman five times in the kitchen of their family home on September 5, in Bork, Selm, Germany.

The daughter, 63, miraculously survived the attack launched by her angered, and visually impaired, father while he was charged with attempted murder.

According to a Bild report, Wilhelms daughter had visited him daily until the day of the crime after he suffered a broken neck in the summer before discharging himself from hospital.

But this caused the senior citizen to encounter difficulties with moving around the home, and so his daughter suggested he move into a care facility.

Nesrin Oecal, a spokeswoman for the Dortmund Regional Court said: According to the prosecution, there were repeated arguments between the two because of this issue.

On the day of the vicious crime, the daughter reportedly moved chairs around in the kitchen area so her father could walk around the room with ease.

But in a horror response, he reached over and grabbed his Walther P38 pistol that he is believed to have owned legally for over 80 years, according to the German newspaper.

Wilhelm fired four times in the direction of his daughter, before pulling the trigger once more as she ran bleeding towards the door in a bid to escape.

One bullet pierced her thigh, while another grazed her arm.

Following the shooting, a SWAT team cordoned off a large section of the residential area and arrested the elderly man.

Wilhelm was taken to the prison hospital in an ambulance, but despite the charges of attempted murder, a judge has shockingly allowed him to return home on conditional release.

The District Court in Dortmund is now deciding if the trial will even go ahead, determining if Wilhelm’s determination to avoid a care home will see him instead behind bars.
