EXCLUSIVE Mother claims she was treated like a US school shooter after blazer row sends classrooms into lockdown - who do YOU think is in the right?

A school was thrown into lockdown and police called in following a row with a parent over the size of her daughters blazer.

A school was thrown into lockdown and police called in following a row with a parent over the size of her daughters blazer.

Officers stormed Harris Academy in Wimbledon, southwest London, last Wednesday after a Year 9 pupil called her mother after being aggressively screamed at and forced into her undersized jacket by a teacher.

Following a two-and-a-half hour stand off - which saw the horrified mother locked in the schools reception and pupils held in their classrooms - police interviewed all parties and they were sent home.

The mother, 35, whom is not being named, told MailOnline: I was treated like a US school shooter. Its not acceptable in anyway, shape or form. It was just disgusting.

There was no need for a lockdown. I was no threat at any point. My daughter is really overwhelmed by it all. She is terrified I was going to be arrested.

The ordeal began after the 13-year-old mislaid her blazer and was forced to wear her Year 7 uniform to school.

But while walking to her second lesson of the day, the child was allegedly confronted by a teacher who questioned why she wasnt wearing a jacket.

After protesting her innocence, the girl was reportedly told she was lying and then allegedly ordered to force on the blazer in front of a class full of kids.

Being made to put on a very small blazer in front of children is very humiliating, the mother said, adding: She was saying to him I dont want to put it on and he was screaming at her aggressively.

She felt scared and forced to do it while everyone was watching. It doesnt get past the top of her arms and he continues to scream at her as shes trying to explain. It gets to the point where the blazer is ripped like Hulk Hogan, thats how tight it was.

If my child was a badly behaved child, which she is not, it still wouldnt be acceptable. Hes threatened her with detention, threatened to put her in isolation so she ran away and called me immediately in tears.

The mother rang the school saying she was on her way with her partner and wanted a meeting with staff over the incident.

After arriving she was allegedly told by a senior staff member her daughter would be taken out of lessons and the commotion investigated but she claimed this offer was quickly retracted.

A meeting with the accused teacher was allegedly refused and when a request by the mother for an immediate probe into the incident was turned down, the atmosphere turned sour and the mother refused to leave the premises until the matter was resolved.

Staff abandoned the reception area and reportedly locked the mother in as she began live-streaming the stand-off on Facebook to 600 people, with dozens of parents watching the mayhem unfold online.

I didnt film any students, I didnt film any staff, I didnt name any staff... everyone was very confused as to why the school was handling me like I was doing something wrong, she said of the impasse, which lasted several hours.

In an extraordinary escalation, the school - which has 1,150 pupils - was plunged into a lockdown as eight police officers stormed the reception at around 10.30am having been informed of a disturbance involving a parent.

Children went into meltdown as they were locked in rooms as rumours swirled of a major incident involving a parent armed with a knife. Mothers and fathers began arriving at the school gates demanding answers.

Following interviews with all parties, the parents left at around 2.30pm.

The mother said: Immediately the police said it was disgusting you had been sat here for this long. They actually questioned the teacher as to why they had put the school on lockdown because I hadnt breached anything or posed a threat.

They said why didnt the school send a member of staff to talk to me, their excuse was because of the live-stream, but they could at any point have said we dont feel comfortable with you live-streaming.

The mother says she recorded the incident as evidence.

In an email sent to parents at 12.45pm, seen by MailOnline, headteacher Miss Larizadeh said: I would like to inform you due to an incident that occurred at the school today, we briefly implemented our lockdown measures as a precautionary measure.

During this time, the safety and well-being of all students and staff were our top priority, and I am pleased to report that everyone is safe.

We have now returned to our normal school procedures, and there is no further cause for concern. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time.

A second email to parents dismissed rumours the mother was armed with a knife.

The rumour that a weapon was involved is completely untrue. At no point were students at risk, the email read.

Reflecting on the incident, the mother said: I was so shocked, I was mind blown. I felt I was being abused, I didnt understand why. I hadnt had anything to drink anything to eat, it was just disgusting.

She has issued a formal complaint over the incident and is considering moving her child to another school following the trauma she experienced.

A spokesperson for Harris Academy Wimbledon, which is rated outstanding by Ofsted, said: We cannot comment on individual students or their parents.

At Harris Academy Wimbledon, our priority is the safety and security of our students, staff and parents and we are grateful for the polices support in helping us manage this matter.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: Police were called at around 10.30am on Wednesday, March 5 to a school in Wimbledon to reports of a disturbance involving a parent.

Officers attended the scene and spoke with a number of parties – including the parent – and no further action was taken by police.
