Donald Trump called a flurry of allies after the second assassination attempt on his life on Sunday.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), once Trumps White House physician, was one of those who spoke with the former president.
He also was the one who tended to Trumps wound after a bullet grazed his right ear during the first assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
This time, there are no injuries to assess because the gunman wasnt able to fire off a shot before he was targeted by the former presidents security detail.
He told me he was always glad to hear from me but he was glad he didnt need my services today, Jackson said, according to The New York Times.
Donald Trump called allies after the second assassination attempt on his life on Sunday to reassure them and describe the second incident in just two months
I just told him I was glad he was OK and he said he cant believe this happened, Jackson added. But he said hes doing well and the team was doing well.
Jackson traveled with Trump the day after the Butler assassination attempt when a bullet flew within inches of his brain.
And just two hours after the Secret Service shot at a man with a gun at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Trump called his former doctor.
Trump was playing a round of golf on Sunday afternoon with real estate investor Steve Witkoff, a friend and campaign donor, when shots were fired at a suspected assassin near holes five, six and eight of Trump International Golf Club.
An agent part of Trumps advance team spotted a rifle muzzle sticking out of the chain link fence in the trees and brush surrounding the former presidents golf course two holes ahead of where he was playing.
In a call with Sean Hannity on Sunday, Trump, an avid golfer who has played with the Fox News anchor, jokingly lamented that he was annoyed his game was interrupted.
Trump has stayed close with former White House Physician Rep. Ronny Jackson
They were on the fifth hole, they were about to go up to putt, Hannity said on Fox News, saying the group heard pop, pop, pop, pop before the Secret Service pounced on top of Trump to protect him.
A steel-reinforced car whisked him away.
Trump was disappointed he wasnt able to finish his putt and claimed he was set to shoot under par.
Hannity said Trump told him: I was even and I had a birdie putt.
