Cincinnati Enquirer blasted for opinion piece claiming Trump brings it on himself after 2nd assassination attempt

Cincinnati Enquirer sparked backlash after publishing an opinion piece in the newspaper saying Donald Trump brings a lot of this stuff on himself after a second assassination attempt.

Cincinnati Enquirer sparked backlash after publishing an opinion piece in the newspaper saying Donald Trump brings a lot of this stuff on himself after a second assassination attempt.

On Monday, the day after alleged would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, was thwarted by Secret Service, the Ohio paper ran a letter to the editor outlining a host of reasons why Trump brings the crazies out.

The headline read: Trump brings these assassination attempts on himself.

The Enquirers X account shared the story with expanded language, stating: Opinion: There is no place in politics for violence. That said, the former president, Donald Trump, brings a lot of this stuff on himself.

The letter opens by saying There is no place in politics for violence, before arguing that Trumps lies about migrants in Springfield, Ohio, his claims about the 2020 election, and pledge to carry out mass deportations of migrants, brings the crazies out, and one of those crazies tries to shoot him.

The piece quickly drew condemnation from conservatives, with radio host Clay Travis branding it insane. Others called on the Enquirer to apologize for publishing it.

The Enquirer later changed the pieces headline to: Theres no place for violence in politics. Trumps lies and rhetoric must stop. The paper added a note saying the headline was updated to meet our standards, clarifying that the opinion expressed in this piece reflects that of the writer.

The letter, written by Felicia Duncan from Sharonville, cited Trumps lies about legal immigrants like the ones in Springfield, Ohio, after the former president parroted baseless claims that Haitian migrants were caught eating residents pets in the town.

She also called out his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen and his pledges to deport immigrants who are not white from this country as reasons for the attempts on his life.

The author also took issue with Trump charging the American people thousands of dollars per night for his Secret Service protectors to stay at his Trump-owned properties.

She noted: Those excess monies can then be used to put more Secret Service agents on his protection detail.

Otherwise, why should the American people continue to put out extra millions for protection that is only needed because the president cant keep from lying and bringing these issues on himself?

Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk took to X to share his outrage at the letters publication, branding it truly vile.

Why did the Cincinnati Enquirer choose to publish this filth and legitimize it? he asked.

Alex Triantafilou, chairman of the Ohio GOP, also waded into the controversy, saying that he couldnt believe it when he saw the letter.

I still barely do, he said on X. How does the Enquirer do this? So its Trump "bringing it on himself" that theyre trying to KILL him!?!

Would they publish such an opinion about Obama? Biden? Kamala? No chance! Shame!
