The FBI arrested a Texas man on suspicion of supporting ISIS and planning a 9/11 style terrorist attack on US soil.
Authorities took Anas Said, 28, into custody last week after he allegedly plotted a sickening attack from his Houston apartment.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams said Thursday that Said admitted to researching how to carry out a terrorist attack, particularly targeting local military recruiting centers.
Today is a great day. We’ve taken a suspected terrorist off the streets of Houston, Williams said.
Authorities said Said had also attempted to offer his west Houston apartment to ISIS operatives and produced ISIS propaganda.
At a press conference alongside Williams, Alamdar Hamdani, the US Attorney in the Southern District of Texas, said Said is an American citizen but spent a good part of his childhood in Lebanon.

The FBI Houston office added in a statement: We stopped a potential terrorist attack from happening right here in Houston. Any day we can publicly say that is a good day.
Said is charged with attempting to provide material support to the terrorist group.
FBI Houston said on X that after his arrest, Said admitted to researching how to conduct attacks, and offering his home in west Houston as a safe sanctuary to ISIS operatives.
He also allegedly bragged he would commit a 9/11-style attack if he had the right resources available to him, and the FBI said he was attempting to produce ISIS propaganda.
