An investigation has been launched after suspected human remains and bones were found in London.

The discovery was made near bushes at Sewell Road, Thamesmead yesterday at 12.36pm.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: Police were called at 12:36hrs on Wednesday, 6 November to reports of suspected human remains/bones at Sewell Road, Thamesmead.

A cordon has been put in place while forensic officers examine the item and establish its origins.

Enquiries are ongoing.
