Around 50 to 60 teenagers have been spotted hanging round Lower Broughton Road where several cars have reportedly been damaged.
Pictures from the scene show one car was set on fire, while a police vehicle has also been damaged, according to Manchester Evening News.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: Officers are currently dealing with serious disorder on Lower Broughton Road in Salford and there is a dispersal order in place.
Behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated and we will respond accordingly.
We have made an arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and one of our vehicles has been damaged.
