A pilot is dead following a plane crash in outback NSW on Tuesday morning.
A pilot is dead following a plane crash in outback NSW on Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the crash site at White Cliffs Aerodrome, a remote airstrip about 260km north-east of Broken Hill, about 7.15am.
NSW Police said the male pilot of the aircraft died at the scene. The body is yet to be formally identified.
A spokesperson added that early inquiries indicated the man was the only occupant of the aircraft.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District, along with NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW State Emergency Service all rushed to the site of the wreckage.
Police have secured a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is assisting.
The investigation is ongoing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
