Emergency services were called to Manns Point on OConnell Street, Greenwich, about 4:15pm following reports a car had accelerated through a car park, struck a woman, rammed through a fence and then entered the Parramatta River.
It is understood the man and woman were an elderly married couple who had just arrived at the fishing spot and the man had accidentally hit the accelerator while trying to park.

One witness jumped five metres from a ledge into the water and then swam to the woman.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
