The teenager, who cannot been identified, was taken into custody accused of murdering Mark Humiston, his wife Sarah, and three of their children.
The victims were found shot dead inside their rustic $2million mansion in Fall City, some 30 miles east of Seattle, on Monday.
Police said an 11-year-old girl who escaped the attack was in satisfactory condition on Tuesday, having been wounded in the incident.
The accused teen waived his right to appear in court yesterday, where he was ordered to have no contact with his surviving sister.

The accused will be held pending charges in connection with the deaths of two adults and three young teenagers at a home east of Seattle, authorities said Tuesday.
Tuesdays hearing took place at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle.
A judge found probable cause for five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder in the killings.
His surviving sister was also hurt and hospitalized.
The girl was reportedly shot twice and taken to the hospital after receiving medical help from a neighbor.
The Harborview Medical Center confirmed her condition on Tuesday.
Initial police reports erroneously described her as a teenager.
Police have said they believe everyone involved in the attack was related.
King County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mile Mellis said the situation was clearly a domestic violence incident involving a young man and firearms.

Mellis added that there was no significant confrontation with the young man who was taken into custody.
A neighbor told KING-TV that a couple and their five children lived in the home.
Neighbors told Fox13 the kids were homeschooled and well-known in the neighborhood, often seen playing and swimming by their lakeside home.
The 15-year-olds defense attorneys said in court that he has no criminal history and asked that the media not release his name before a charging decision is made, which the judge granted.
Several people called 911 on Monday around 5 a.m. to report a shooting at a home in Fall City, Washington, an unincorporated community about 25 miles from Seattle.
The initial call was about a suicide attempt and possible gunfire inside a home, according to KOMO News.
The young girl who survived the shooting reportedly called 911 from inside a bathroom.
Deputies found the bodies of five people inside the home, King County Sheriff´s Office spokesperson Mike Mellis said.
Arriving deputies immediately took the teen into custody while the girl who had been hurt was taken to the hospital. Both live at the house, Mellis said.
It’s very early stages of this investigation, but it’s going to affect many people, Mellis added.

Humiston, originally from Texas, worked as an Associate Principal at Haris Engineers in Seattle, where he had worked for nearly 20 years, according to his LinkedIn

The 15-year-old was booked into King County´s juvenile detention facility, and no other arrests were expected, Mellis said.
Mellis said investigators believe the people killed had been shot. Their names and causes of death have not yet been released.
He said Fall City, with a population of about 2,000, is a pretty nice area, low crime rate in general.
This is a place where people come to raise their families, he added.
The deaths were the country´s 32nd mass killing this year, according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University.
