Kate today released a three-minute long clip featuring her husband, Prince William, and their three children to celebrate the end of her chemotherapy

A BBC journalist has tonight compared the move to the behaviour of American pop icon Beyoncé, in a remark that has puzzled viewers.

David Sillito, BBC Arts and Media Correspondent, said tonight: More normal would be a three-line statement saying the treatment is over [...].

If youve grown up in a world of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, this might feel much more normal and natural than a press conference or a statement.

If you take someone like Beyoncé, shes barely said a word to the media in the last 11 years because she doesnt need to because she can talk directly. I think this is the Princess talking directly and choosing both how and what she says about something that is difficult and painful.

Reacting to the comment, one viewer wrote on social media platform X: Did someone on @BBCNews just compare Kate Middletons video release to how Beyonce uses the media? Eh one is royalty and one is a musician.

Another said: Calling Kate Middleton the next Beyoncé for her cancer video is mad @BBCNews!

While Kates message to the nation was filled with hope and celebration, she warned that doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus and admitted the last nine months have been a scary and unpredictable time for her family.

The Princess said the experience has reminded her and her husband to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.

The three-minute long video was filmed in Norfolk last month and is accompanied by a backdrop of stunning nature.

It shows the family playing happily on the beach and in the woods, William and Catherine laying entwined on a blanket, hugging their children – and kissing.
