Tregony, Queensland: Rider dies after being thrown from his bike at speed on private motocross track

The death of a motocross rider is being investigated after he came off his bike and suffered critical injuries in a horror crash.


The death of a motocross rider is being investigated after he came off his bike and suffered critical injuries in a horror crash. 

The rider came off his bike at speed on the Gap Creek Moto dirt bike track on the Cunningham Highway in Tregony, southeast Queensland, at 11.45am on Saturday.

Paramedics gave CPR in an attempt to revive the man but he suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and could not be saved. 

A Queensland Police spokesman said the incident is not being treated as suspicious. 

Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the sudden death of a man following a single vehicle crash around Tregony at 11.45am, the spokesman said.

Forensic crash units are investigating the incident. 

There is no further information at this time.

Daily Mail Australia understands officials from Worksafe are also investigating. 

Gap Creek Moto is a privately owned dirt bike and camping facility located roughly 10km west of the scenic Cunninghams Gap.

The track, which is situated on a large 650acre plot of land, offers a unique riding experience for individuals and families according to their website. 

The track is suitable for senior and junior riders and consists of around 20km of trails and enduro loops. Camping facilities are also available nearby.

Riders must wear their safety gear including a helmet, goggles, gloves, motocross boots, long pants and a long sleeve top before using the facility. 

Quad bikes are not allowed on the track.  

Gap Creek Moto declined to comment when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
