The Mitsubishi Lancer sustained serious damage to the front and rear with large pieces of the wreckage seen scattered across the road.

Queensland Police last week appealed for witnesses to the fatal crash to come forward with homeowners urged to provide any CCTV footage.

Forensic Crash Unit detectives said speed would be a factor in their investigation.
