Cooler temperatures are finally on the way in welcome news for Aussies following a string of hot and sticky heatwave conditions this week.
Weatherzone meteorologist Quincy Tut told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday that significant storms were forecast for southeastern states this weekend.
The most significant storms will be seen in northeast parts of New South Wales, southern parts of Queensland and interior parts of Northern Territory, he said.
Were seeing a broad inland trough and associated cloud band which is stretching from the northwest of Australia down to the southeast.
That [system] is generating quite a bit of moisture and instability and thats whats going to be start kicking off these storms.
Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney are going to be in some for cooler south westerlies to southerlies, with the trough moving east.
The trough and associated cloud band will cause temperatures to plummet with Bankstown in Sydneys west to experience a drop of five to six degrees on Friday.
Canberra could see temperatures plunge by six to eight degrees on Sunday.
