Actress Shailene Woodley defended the Trumps and slammed the liberal elite over their wishes the assassination attempted against the former president went as planned.
Woodley, 32, shared the first page of the letter Melania Trumps posted online after her husband, Donald Trump, was nearly assassinated at a rally in Pennsylvania because the actress thought it was a beautiful message of human compassion.
I only posted the first page of it, because the second page was more political, she told Bustle. The first page was very much like, "Look, underneath the political mask is a man, a grandpa, who comes home to his children, his grandchildren, and plays music. The man underneath that mask is my husband."
The actress quickly received backlash for going against the Democratic grain of Hollywood, but shes more disgusted with how liberals around her reacted to Trump surviving.
I was in circles of people that I deeply respect - friends, colleagues, progressive, very intelligent thinkers, shakers and movers-— and many of them were saying, "He missed! F**king assassin missed! Maybe it was a setup. Maybe it was a conspiracy." I was going: "Have we forgotten that two human lives were taken?"

Two people died. That is sad. That is devastating. I could not understand how people were speaking about something with such passion for death.
The gunman, Thomas Michael Crooks, and a former fire chief were killed at the rally that left the 45th president with a bloodied ear, although he insists he does not have any PTSD from the event.
In the letter, Melania wrote how Crooks tried to ring out Donalds passion - his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration.
The core facets of my husbands life - his human side - were buried below the political machine... Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love.

Although Woodley has not endorsed Trump or Kamala Harris for president ahead of the 2024 election this November, she did speak to caring about politics and embracing friends with differing opinions.
In 2016, the Big Little Lies actress fully supported Bernie Sanders for president, while her friend and fellow actor George Clooney was a staunch Hillary [Clinton] supporter.
When we spoke about it together afterward, there was no judgment or anger at the other because of where we stood, The Fault in Our Stars lead said. It was only, "Thank God, you participated. Thank God, you cared. Thank God, you tried to do something."
