Russell Brand has claimed to have found God in the midst of Hurricane Milton in a video posted thousands of miles away from the eye of the storm.

A bizarre post on X shows the disgraced comedian in Miami, which is not in the path of the Category 3 hurricane.

As he walks along a darkened street, the 49-year-old embarks on a rambling attempt to link the storm to his new self-proclaimed Christian faith.

Brand says: In the middle of this crazy storm in Florida - and I pray for those of you who are more directly affected - [it is] worth thinking how the metaphor of the storm affects us all.

Like animals, I think we can feel something unusual is happening and pray for the people in Tampa, Sarasota and all those that are affected elsewhere directly by this.

I was taught from Matthew that when the Apostles were dealing with a storm Peter first asks when he sees our Lord on the water Is that you and you dont get out of the boat until you know its Jesus, until you know its the Lord whos saying yes, come, he says yes and you can get out of the boat.

But unlike Peter when youre out of the boat youve got to keep your eyes fixed on the Lord because if you take your eyes off Jesus the storm could devour you.

Brand was accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse in a joint investigation last year by Channel 4s Dispatches programme, The Times and The Sunday Times.

He has strongly denied all accusations about his behaviour, which allegedly took place at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

Continuing his social media address, Brand describes the storm as proof of Gods power.

The storm I suppose is a demonstration of the almighty power that is beyond our control, he says. As a metaphor it helps me to understand that I must listen and watch for Christ.

Since December 2023, Brand has published several posts discussing his growing relationship with Christianity.

Last month, the 49-year-old was pictured performing a baptism in his underpants with the caption: It might seem a bit soon to be baptizing people, but the Apostles did it on day one, so here we are.

He also uploaded a video interpreting the Bible, in which he expressed his gratitude for Gods sacrifice.

How can we ever understand with the conscious limited mind that God himself came down to earth and was sacrificed, that we may be redeemed and rose again, that we may have eternal life, with our limited consciousness, its not possible, he said.

Brand was baptised in the Thames in April after turning to religion following the accusations against him.

He said he felt nourished and as though a new resource has been switched on inside me following his own baptism.

It comes as Hurricane Milton continues to rip a path of destruction across Florida, leaving several people dead and tearing through the roof of Tropicana Field stadium as it heads for Orlando and onward to the Atlantic.

The first casualties were reported even before Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm around 8:30pm EST (1:30am BST), bringing catastrophic flooding, 120mph winds and several twisters - some of which proved lethal.

After making landfall, Milton began rumbling east, ripping up everything in its path before ripping apart the roof of Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team in St. Petersburg.

At least 117 tornado warnings were issued in communities across the state overnight and into this morning, with dozens reported to have materialised and wrought havoc.

More than 3 million homes and businesses were without power this morning in Florida.
