One man was heard screaming for help and another emerged from the building caked in soot after the blast.

Restaurant worker Garry Singh, 28, was the first to arrive at the explosion site and described hearing people screaming for help with others in floods of tears.

He ran outside from the Alba restaurant and saw that the buildings roof was missing.

People were shaken. There was one girl, it was heartbreaking to see, she was crying. It was hard to see, he said.

There was a man screaming help from one of the buildings. By that time the fire brigade were there so you take a step back.

It was a difficult thing to see. Its right on your doorstep on a busy Sunday evening in the restaurant and its the last thing you expect. It was crazy.

Terrified neighbour Rosie Adamson ran to her window when she heard the loud bang and saw a giant blaze.

I just heard this big boom - my doors shook, she said. I thought World War Three had started.

There was this big boom, and then I ran to the window and saw the flames and the smoke.
