This is the moment a have-a-go-hero falls from a car bonnet after clinging on for almost half a mile to try to stop a handbag thief in a getaway car.
Stuart Fox leapt to action after seeing drug addict Keith Wilcox snatch a womans handbag and jump into a Vauxhall Corsa being driven Lisa Burgess.
Shocking footage shows him holding on to the bonnet of the motor as it speeds away from a Morrisons car park in Castleford, West Yorkshire, and onto a main road.
Burgess had drove for more than a third of a mile before Mr Fox was eventually thrown from the car, suffering 15 fractured ribs.
The pair then callously sped off and Burgess was later caught on CCTV trying to use the stolen bank card to buy vodka, but the card was declined.

Leeds Crown Court heard Wilcox and Burgess were on bail at the time of the offence for a previous shoplifting offence just days before the robbery.
Theyd tampered with the registration plate on Burgesss and gone to the Morrisons with the intention of shoplifting on September 1.
But when they got there, Wilcox approached Sharon Corban and asked her to take a photo before snatching her purse and jumping into the Corsa, shouting go, go, go.
Passerby Mr Fox tried to drag Burgess from the car but she reversed out of his path.
He then jumped onto the windscreen in a bid to stop her getting away, but she sped off as he hung on.
Wilcox, 41, was jailed today (Tuesday, September 12) for 20 months after previously pleading guilty to robbery.
Burgess, 44, was jailed for three years in total after pleading guilty to robbery, fraud by false representation and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Prosecutor Jennifer Gatland told the court: Sharon Corban was crossing the car park of Morrisons when she was approached by WIlcox, who grabbed her arm.
She asked if he was ok, he asked if she could take a photo and he reached into her purse.
He then jumped into a black Corsa driven by Burgess, shouting "go, go, go".
Stuart Fox tried to jump in the drivers side door to drag the driver out. But he missed and Burgess reversed the vehicle to get away.
Mr Fox then jumped on the windscreen, but Burgess carried on driving.
Burgess drove for around a third of a mile before she jerked suddenly and Mr Fox fell from the car and hit his head.

Ms Gatland said Mr Fox was rushed to nearby Pinderfields hospital, where he was treated for the broken ribs and injuries to the front, top and back of his head.
He discharged himself the following day after being treated with intravenous drugs.
Around an hour later, Wilcox was captured on CCTV trying to use the stolen bank card in a shop, but it was declined.
The pair were arrested later that day when police saw Burgess driving her car with Wilcox in the passenger seat.
In her victim impact statement, which Ms Gatland read to the court, Mrs Corban said she was left injured and traumatised by the robbery.
She said: Im having nightmares, I wake up screaming, reliving the robbery.
I keep seeing the man who tried to help me on the bonnet. I wake up screaming and wake up my husband saying hes dying, Ive killed him because I asked him to help me.
She said Wilcox shoved her backwards as he grabbed her purse, leaving her with a pain in the back which prevents her taking part in social activities.
It has also left her too traumatised to work in her daughters estate agents in Leeds as there are too many people.
She added: I dont want to go out alone. I think Ill be robbed or attacked again.
I decline social events because of the pain in my back.
Kara Firth, defending Burgess, said she had previous been a law-abiding citizen before she met Wilcox - a crack addict with 14 previous convictions - on Tinder.

Mr Fox has been praised by police constable Natalie Carr for his immense bravery
She told the mum-of-two had lost her family home and he children - aged 12 and 17 - were forced to stay with relatives.
Wilcox, who appeared on video link from New Hall prison, wept as Ms Frith said: She is mortified by what she did. She is disgusted by her behaviour.
She did go on to use the card stolen in the robbery. This was particularly callous as shed left an injured man in the road.
She is horrified shes sunk to those depths and is desperate to apologise to those she has upset and hurt.
Judge Mushtaq Khokhar jailed Burgess for two years for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a year for her part in the robbery, to be served consecutively.
She will also serve a three month concurrent sentence for the fraud and banned from driving for 48 months.
He said: I have seen CCTV of Burgess driving at speed and Mr Fox is thrown from the car.
There is a red car being driven immediately behind the car being driven by Ms Burgess. Mr Fox is thrown into its path, but thankfully it stops.
The consequences had it not do not bear thinking about. It would have been fatal at worst and life-changing at best.
Police constable Natalie Carr, of Wakefield district crime team said: The male victim has shown immense bravery standing up against something that he knew to be wrong.
We all have a part to play in challenging violence against women and girls and I know how thankful the female robbery victim is for his actions.
Burgess has put this man in extreme danger by continuing to drive at speed knowing that he was holding on to the vehicle.
Even with the knowledge that she had left a man injured in the road, this has not deterred her from attempting to use a bank card that was stolen in the robbery a short time later.
Both Wilcox and Burgess are rightly now behind bars for their actions.
