Emergency services were called to the scene on Copperfield Dr in Ambarvale just after midday on Tuesday, after the vehicles collided and burst into flames.

The blaze caused significant damage before it was brought under control by firefighters in 15 minutes.

Witnesses described seeing the car and motorbike engulfed by large flames, with thick smoke rising into the air.

The motorbike rider, a 21-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car, a 65-year-old woman, was also treated at the scene and taken to hospital for further assessment and mandatory testing.

Neither driver is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

Copperfield Drive was closed in both directions following the crash, with public transport services diverted while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
