Adam Bodi was 18-year-old Umars passenger when his Audi A3 Sport veered off the road in Preston, Lancashire on Tuesday and crashed into trees.

Adam was in the back seats when the incident happened and died as a result of his injuries - a 17-year-old who was also in the car remains in hospital, with police investigating the cause of the double tragedy.

The teenager, from Preston, has been described as a popular, bright, confident and fantastic young man in the wake of the accident.

His former principal at Penwortham Priory Academy, Matt Eastham, said: We are extremely upset to hear this news and the school sends its heartfelt condolences to all of Adams family and friends.

Adam was an amazing pupil, of whom we have nothing but fantastic memories. He was popular, bright, confident and had a fantastic sense of humour alongside being a first-class footballer, who had been part of our football team here at Priory for 5 years.

We know that the rest of his year group will be equally upset at losing one of their own.

Adam was a fantastic young man, and he, his family and friends are very much in our thoughts and prayers.

The teenager had just finished his time at the school after receiving his GCSEs this summer.

A former teacher of the 16-year-old, Andrew Watters, posted on Facebook: To lose Adam at such a young age is simply awful for his lovely family and so so many friends, both at Priory today and his pals whom have left with him.

A terrible shock which has this morning left me and many other colleagues, lucky enough to teach and know such a great lad. His engaging smile, thirst for life, genuine friendly demeanour and kind warmth. My heart goes out to all who will somehow have to face grieving for Adam.

The Priory family will gather round all, bringing mutual support and encouragement to all to face this sad time. Rest in peace Adam.

His passion for football made Adam a prominent figure in his community.

His former team, Sir Tom Finney FC, said on X: Our thoughts and prayers go out to Adam Bodi and his family. The Preston community is devastated with this sad news.

He was much loved by his teams mates and was a fine player for Sir Tom Finney FC. RIP.
