EXCLUSIVEKamala Harris accused of being a chameleon ahead of Trump debate as she flip flops on crime

Kamala Harris insists she is a fierce prosecutor and has used that rhetoric to claim as president she would not allow surging crime to continue.

But a new analysis from the conservative Heritage Foundation obtained by DailyMail.com lays out the case that Harris platform goes the direction in which the political winds happen to be blowing, which just so happens to be anti-crime at the moment.

From her times as District Attorney of San Francisco to Attorney General of California up to the U.S. Senate and as Vice President, the report notes how Harris has had a quite liberal prosecution style over the years – except when it came to marijuana crimes, which she has now also flip-flopped on when public perception became more pro-weed.

Despite touting herself as a tough-on-crime prosecutor, Vice President Kamala Harriss record reveals a different reality, said Zack Smith, Senior Legal Fellow at The Heritage Foundation and author of the report.

She has long favored radical, pro-crime policies that make American communities less safe.

As Americans increasingly list crime as a top concern heading into the 2024 election, especially amid the influx of illegal immigration over the southern border, Harris is side-stepping her once more lax view on these issues as she runs for the White House.

And since entering the race on July 21, Harris has painted the contests as prosecutor v. convicted felon.

I took on perpetrators of all kinds, Harris told a crowd in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6. Predators who abused women. Fraudsters who scammed consumers. Cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain

So hear me when I say: I know Donald Trumps type, she quipped to a giant line of applause and laughter.

The new report from The Heritage Foundation, which also authored the highly criticized and now-defunct Project 2025, specifically goes into Harris record on the death penalty, refusal to justly prosecute illegal immigrants and her evolving stance on marijuana crimes.

It also dives into her actions in the Senate and as Vice President to approve some controversial nominations that have exacerbated the national urban crime problem.

The only thing that Harris has been tough on when it comes to crime is her prosecution of marijuana offenders in California, the analysis alleges.

When Harris was San Franciscos District Attorney, her office prosecuted more than 1,900 people for marijuana-related offenses.

But when she was a U.S. Senator, Harris told radio host Charlamagne tha God that she has smoked weed and joked about the music she listened to while high.

So there are a lot of reasons why we need to legalize, Harris said in the 2019 interview.

Have you ever smoked? the radio host asked the then-senator.

I have and I did inhale, Harris laughed. It was a long time ago, but yes. I just broke news.

She confirmed that it was in college when she partook in smoking marijuana.

The Heritage analysis points to her changing view on the issue leading to a new weed strain being named after the vice president.

Given her recent change in positions, there is even a strain of weed, Kamala Kush, named after her, which Jimmy Kimmel joked about during an interview with her, the report notes.

An employee of the Drug Policy Alliance said that when Harris was a senator, she introduced legislation that supported reforms to the criminal justice system that would provide radical justice to marijuana crimes.

The current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has proudly proclaimed her prosecutorial past, Smith writes in his report. But how she has portrayed her time as a prosecutor—either as tough on crime or as overtly progressive—has varied, depending on her audience and the direction in which the political winds happen to be blowing.

Make no mistake, though: Kamala Harris holds radical views about our criminal justice system.

The report also notes two specific examples from when Harris was a District Attorney, she refused to seek the death penalty for those who may have otherwise faced capital punishment for their heinous crimes.

And it points to her back on track initiative, a seemingly good faith effort to reform criminals and help train them for jobs in exchange for having their felonies expunged from their records.

But the report said that Harris program also allowed illegal immigrants to stay out of prison by training them for jobs they [could not] legally hold.

Until the issue came up during her campaign to be Californias Attorney General, Harris had never publicly acknowledged that [Back on Track] included illegal immigrants, Smith alleges in his document.

Kamala Harris has often claimed that she wants to help members of our nations poor and minority communities, but the sad irony is that the policies she now champions will often end up harming those individuals the most, Smith told DailyMail.com.
