Disgraced TV star Andrew OKeefe could be stripped of his Order of Australia AM, the countrys highest honour, over complaints about his alleged drug use and violence.

OKeefes award is under review by the Council of the Order of Australia following the former Channel Seven stars public downward spiral.

He received the accolade in 2017 in recognition of his television and charity work, which involved chairing anti-domestic violence organisation White Ribbon.

The former host of Deal or No Deal and The Chase Australia, 53, has faced a number of charges related to alleged drug use, assault and domestic violence in recent years

A spokesman for the Council of the Order of Australia confirmed to the Daily Telegraph that it had received complaints about OKeefes medal following his domestic violence convictions.

Any complaints made are referred to the Council for the Order of Australia who are responsible for making recommendations to the Governor, he said.

Issues have been raised over Mr OKeefes AM, therefore, in line with the process, they are under consideration.

In a letter to the Governor-General Sam Mostyns office, seen by the publication, a disgruntled member of the public wrote: ... according to the Constitution for the Order of Australia, an Order of Australia medal can be revoked if a recipient has been convicted of a criminal act and or if a recipient has brought the Order of Australia into disrepute...

Can you please advise if you are conducting an investigation into whether Andrew OKeefes Order of Australia AM medal should be revoked?

Hes got untold convictions to his name.

Medals can be returned because the recipient acknowledges that they have brought the Order into disrepute and done the honourable thing.

Talking directly to OKeefe the person said: Hand yours in, mate. Youve brought the order into disrepute.

The calls for OKeefe to be stripped of the honour first began in 2022 when he was charged for assaulting a woman in his Sydney home during an argument in 2021

At the time, NSW Upper House MP Mark Latham joined the calls for OKeefes award to be scrapped, branding him as a public menace in parliament.

OKeefe is currently in custody after entering guilty pleas to a drug possession charge as well as separate charges of trespassing and breaching an Apprehended Violence Order.

In July, he allegedly unlawfully entered a Sydney home and was arrested in September after he allegedly overdosed and was busted with crystal meth in his car.

OKeefe was fined for the drug possession charge and handed a 30-month community corrections order for breaching the AVO.

OKeefe released on bail but was rushed to hospital days later after overdosing on drugs at a home in Vaucluse.

Two days later  on September 18, police allegedly found crystal meth in his car when he reported to Rose Bay Police Station as part of his bail conditions.

OKeefe was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and banned from driving for three months for the drug charge.

A further charge of stalking and or intimidating with intent to cause fear or physical harm relating to the July incident was scrapped as part of the plea deal.

Your life has just completely gone off the rails, Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge told OKeefe during a recent videolink appearance at Waverley Local Court.

The only person thats going to make your life any different is going to be you.

She then remarked: God help him, and its a shame he doesnt have an epiphany.
