Showing her true Labour colours, Rachel Reeves stepped out today with a new red hairstyle.

The Chancellor displayed her new ginger locks after meeting trade union bosses in Downing Street.

Ms Reeves, 45, is well known for her ‘power bob’- a sharp, professional chin-length haircut.

Her new look comes ahead of Labour’s budget on October 30. Ms Reeves will deliver Autumn Statement, detailing Labour’s spending plans.

It will be the Government’s first budget since winning the general election in July.

The Chancellor has warned that ‘difficult decisions’ will be necessary, impacting tax and government spending.

Ministers have repeatedly warned of difficult choices because of a £22 billion black hole they say officials have discovered in the public finances.

She was previously awkwardly quizzed about a new haircut in September 2022 when Labour were in opposition.

Ahead of her keynote speech at Labours conference in Liverpool at the time, Ms Reeves appeared on ITVs Good Morning Britain to discuss Labours then economic agenda.

Before she could spell this out, however, Ms Reeves was first grilled about her appearance by host Susanna Reid.

The ITV presenter joked that Ms Reeves had undergone a cut of your own as she noted the politicians shortened hair.

The exchange left fellow host Ed Balls, a former Labour shadow chancellor himself, to state how it was a good job I didnt ask that question.

Ms Reid asked: It looks like youve had a cut of your own! Have you had your hair chopped in time for conference?

The awkwardness of the exchange was heightened by Ms Reeves initially being unable to hear the ITV presenter.

Sorry, I didnt catch that, sorry Susanna. Oh, my hair, my haircut, she replied. More responsible than the cuts weve seen from the Chancellor! I hope you approve.

Looking to make light of his fellow GMB hosts queries about Ms Reeves looks, Mr Balls complimented the shadow chancellor on her good segue into talking about economic matters.

Its a good job I didnt ask that question. A good job I didnt ask it, he added.

Ms Reid then told Ms Reeves she couldnt reverse your hair cut but asked the shadow chancellor which of the Governments tax cuts Labour would reverse if they win power.
