An 18-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman and two teenagers in Luton.


An 18-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman and two teenagers in Luton.

The bodies of Juliana Prosper, 48, Giselle Prosper, 13, and Kyle Prosper, 16, were found inside a flat at the Leabank tower block in Luton, Beds. on Friday following reports of a concern for welfare for the victims.

Wearing a grey jumper, Nicholas Prosper, of Leabank, spoke to confirm his name and date of birth at Luton Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Prosper has also been charged with a number of other offences related to the murder, the court heard.

The courts public gallery was full with family members, many of whom were tearful and shook their heads during Prospers short appearance in the dock.

As Prosper was led away from the dock, a man stood up to look him in the eye and said: I still love you son, I know its not your fault ok.

Deputy district judge Robert Borwick remanded Prosper into custody and ordered him to appear at Luton Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on September 18.

Bedfordshire Police previously said Prosper was charged with the murders as well as firearms offences.

Prosecutor Benjamin Goodman confirmed that Prosper was also charged with one count of possession of a bladed article, namely a kitchen knife, as well as one count of possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

He is also charged with a sixth and final count of purchasing or acquiring a shotgun without holding a certificate.

The family were said to be regular ­congregants of a local church and Kyle attended a Catholic school in the ­neighbourhood.

Neighbours reported hearing loud bangs which they thought were sounds of a car backfiring but now fear were gun shots.
