She released the video on the day of Donald Trumps debate with Democratic rival Kamala Harris and as House Republicans have formed a task force to investigate the July 13th attempt on the former presidents life.
Its unclear what the assassination attempt has to do with Melania Trumps book, which is being published October 1st. She announced her memoir about two weeks after the assassination attempt and its unclear if shell address it in the book.
There have been several questions about the assassination attempt and how shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to climb to the roof of a building within the sight line of Trump.
There are also questions about what role the Secret Service played versus local law enforcement and if the two entities were in proper communication that day.
The gunman shot at Trump from about 150 yards away, on top of a roof that was near the outdoor rally but outside the venue, meaning he didnt go through the normal screening process that rally attendees did.
Its unclear why the Secret Service didnt secure that area and why it took officers so long to respond to the shooting. Trump was grazed by a bullet, causing his ear to bleed.
In the aftermath, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said that her agency failed in its mission to protect the former president.

The former first lady has been the subject of many biographies and books but this is the first time she is telling her story.

After the Trumps left the White House in January 2021, Melania Trump maintained her low profile.
She has not been heavily involved in her husbands 2024 campaign for the White House.

She has yet to appear at a campaign rally.
She also didnt attend the first presidential debate and has been careful to distance herself from her husbands legal troubles.
