The 70-year-old billionaires TV special, AI and the Future of Us: An Oprah Winfrey Special, plans to come to grips with the transformative power of AI. 

The media mogul said in the feature that we should honor the technology, as she thinks artificial intelligence will change in ways that are unimaginable for the good.

Winfrey shared that her first encounter with the new tech was coupled with her conversation with Altman, OpenAIs co-founder.

She admitted to having fear over the innovative software after Altman, 39, told her about its vast and wide-ranging capabilities. She was surprised when she couldnt keep up with the chat-based software.

It was miraculous to me that before you can practically finish the requests, the answer has come back to you, she said in an interview with ABC News.

AI has been a much disputed topic, especially since OpenAIs launch in 2015. Many have voiced concerns and fears the generative software risks undermining the complexity of human consciousness.

Others share concerns for the workforce and job creation - both topics touched on in the short film by a special guest, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Life for all of us is about to be very different, Oprah told ABC.

Her special seeks to explore the profound impact of artificial intelligence on peoples daily lives, demystifying the technology and empowering viewers to understand the evolving AI future.

She also questioned the possibilities and potential peril of the human-emulating software, suggesting social media has left society in a precarious position. She hopes people should be more disciplined with their use of AI.

We need to do whatever we can so that we are not in the same position that we are now with social media, she added.

Many have taken to social media to share their skepticism over the celebrity special, with one user on X saying: Im no expert, but shouldnt interviewing someone about AI safety require some basic understanding of the technology?

OpenAI was founded in December of 2015 by Altman, Elon Musk and several others. The company researches and develops artificial intelligence - a branch of computer science that enables machines to perform tasks that would otherwise require human intelligence.

The hourlong special features exclusive interviews with Altman, Gates, YouTube creator Marques Brownlee and FBI Director Christopher Wray, among others, It is set to air on ABC Thursday at 8 pm ET.
